Morning!
You know, spam by itself is bad enough when you can at least read it (’tis amazing some of the marketing that these peoples use!) but when it’s in a foreign language completely like Russian….it’s just a bigger pain than ingesting 34 hunks of gnawed-off sheetrock.
So! Today I awakened to see 34 Russian email spams….and I finally decided, enough is enough!! So I started configuring my filter…and then realized, I don’t have a lot of time to devise the perfect 1-step filter rule.
And then I realized…..elegance isn’t the key here, just plain simple common sense is!
I opened two instances of my email in two browsers and set one to
Filter Rules
I created a Rule that read:
If Body contains ****, then delete the email
The I went to the other browser and opened my:
Inbox
Next I simply opened one of the Russian spams….and copied the first weird character to the previous Filter ruleset. So instead of
****
I pasted the Cyrillic character.
I did this 10 more times, using a different character for each ruleset. And the end result?
Not one Russian spam showed up in my Inbox - they were all deleted by my filters like so:
Filter activity: The message "Любые, даже самые гярзные сексуальные фантазии, оживают здесь" from "daryle wengyik <vaughn@datarecognitioncorp.com>" has been deleted.
Filter activity: The message "Только тут ты сможешь найти видео, которое взбудоражит тое воображение" from "griffith cyril <tdgvf@ms7.hinet.net>" has been deleted.
Filter activity: The message "Любые, даже самые грязные сексуальные антазии, оживают здесь" from "alexandr marci <sugoto@qcora.com>" has been deleted.
Nice, eh?

I wrote about Russian spam on my blog, but specifically for the blog only. Have you figured out how to make sure your blog’s spam filter picks it up also?
